Gackt joined Malice Mizer in October of 1995 as their new vocalist. His first album with Malice Mizer, Voyage~sans retour~, was released on June 9, 1996, on Mana's Midi:Nette label. In 1997, Malice Mizer signed with the major label Nippon Columbia, and their first major album release, Merveilles, was released on March 18, 1998. Gackt left the band in January of 1999 to pursue his solo career.

April 13 - Gackt's regular radio program, Radio ougon jidai ~ kuwareta youkan to kajirareta mikan (ラジオ黄金時代~喰われたヨウカンとかじられたミカン), started. The program was aired on 32 radio stations.
April 25 - Gackt held his first live since leaving Malice Mizer, Gackt Easter Live ~Fukkatsu (復活)~, in Omiya Arushe. Later he held an IN STORE EVENT, '99 Gackt RESURRECTION ~Fukkatsu (復活)~ at 11 venues nationwide.

May 12 - Release of album version 2/3, Mizerable.
May - Gackt goes to Hong Kong to promote his latest album.
June 1999
June 30 - Release of the limited edition of 1st single, Mizerable Single Box, with the PV for the song included inside.
July 1999
July 8 - Gackt's 1st photobook, Mizerable ~Hishou (飛翔)~, which was set in France, is released.

May - VHS release of SEVEN. This sale is limited to members of the fanclub.
May 3 - Requiem et Reminiscence ~Chinkon to Saisei (鎮魂と再生)~ tour starts. He went to 14 venues throughout Japan and held 18 concerts in total.
June 2001
June - Went to Taiwan to promote Rebirth.
June 21 - VHS release of Saisei to Shuuen (再生と終焉) with the PVs and making-ofs of Secret Garden and Kimi no Tame ni Dekiru Koto (君のためにできること) included.
June 23 - Requiem et Reminiscence ~Chinkon to Saisei (鎮魂と再生)~ final at Yokohama Arena.
June 27 - The release of the limited edition of 2nd album, Rebirth. The CD cover was created in the image of Gackt's heart.

October - Went to Madagascar, Africa for a NHK TV program, Ima hadaka ni shitai otokotachi ~Gackt~ boku no hahen ga miemasuka (いま裸にしたい男たち~Gackt~僕の破片が見えますか).
October 6 - To commemorate the release of the single ANOTHER WORLD, an event was held in Shibuya Tower Records. 350 people were chosen and there was an interview section where he talked about the making of the PV and the inspiration for the song. The event lasted one hour.
November 2001
November - Went to New York for the filming of 12 Gatsu no Love song (12月のLove song) PV.
November 1 - Gackt Official 2002 Calendar goes on sale.

December 31 - First appearance at the Kouhaku Utagassen, an annual event where famous artists are invited and asked to perform. It is considered an honor to receive an invitation to this event. The artists will be divided into two teams: Red and White team. Gackt performed Another World for this year's event.
March 2002
March 1 - VHS release of Soyogaze (微風), containing the PVs of 12 Gatsu no love song (12月のLove song) and ANOTHER WORLD.
March 13-19 - Dears Fanclub trip to Hawaii.
March 20 - Re-release of the single Vanilla as a Maxi Single with a new 12-cm cover design. This release includes the unplugged version of Vanilla.
April 2002
April 1 - Gackt's regular radio program, Gackt no @llnightnippon.com, started.
April 24 - 11th single, Wasurenai kara (忘れないから) c/w Dooms day is released. The song is used in the CM for the FUJICOLOR Digital Camera Print Campaign.
June 2002
June 6 - The Dears Presents Special Talk&Live Addition starts in Zepp Fukuoka. He went to 8 different live houses throughout Japan and held 9 concerts in total.
June 19 - Release of the 3rd album, MOON. Gackt takes a unique approach with this album by putting the lyrics of the songs in the next album, Crescent, instead of including it in the booklet.
July 2002
July 1 - Appearance in Tateyama Syuzou (立山酒造)CM.
July 10 - Dears Presents Special Talk&Live Addition live house tour final at Zepp Sendai.
August 2002
August 29 - Appearance at the Sonna no Arena concert. The audience voted on the songs he performed. He performed Noah, Speed Master, Lu:na and Another World.

September 22 - Gackt's first performance overseas in Beijing, China. He was invited to the 中日携手世紀同行・記念中日邦交正常化30周年大型歌会 (Japan-China diplomatic relations normalization 30th Anniversary commemoration concert) and performed the songs Speed Master, rain, and Another World.
September 27 - Attended the press conference for MOON CHILD movie.

October 14 - Gackt Live Tour 2002 Kagen no Tsuki (下弦の月)
starts. He went to 15 hall venues nationwide and held 22 concerts in total.

February 25 - Release of 5th album, The Sixth Day~Single Collection~.
February 6-15 and 19-29 - Gackt was chosen to be the "visual character" for Parco's Valentine's Day and White Day campaign. As part of this campaign, and to commemorate the release of the Sixth Day album, The Gackt First Exhibition “The Sixth Day” was held at Parco stores in Shibuya and Nagoya. The exhibition consisted of costumes, accessories and photos from Gackt's live tours. Gackt also collaborated with the famous chocolatier Le Chocolatier Takagi; 6,000 packages of chocolates that were specially selected by Gackt were sold by Parco.

February 13 - To commemorate the release of the album Love Letter, a Valentine Special Event was held at Venus Fort in Tokyo. 500 couples were chosen by lottery to attend the special event, where Gackt, accompanied by You and Chacha, performed acoustic versions of Tea Cup, Arittake no Ai de (ありったけの愛で), and Love Letter.
February 14 - Release of 7th album, Love Letter.
February 14 - To aid victims of the December 26, 2004 tsunami in Southeast Asia, a Gackt "life size figure" was auctioned off at the Woman Excite Auction site. The figure, complete with Gackt's DARTS accessories, was originally used to promote The Sixth Day album and also made appearances in Dwango's Iromelo Mix commercials. The figure was on display at Big Echo, a karaoke shop, prior to the auction. The auction ended on February 14, raising 1,855,00 yen.
March 2005
March 26-27 - Dears Ski Trip, "Hakugin no Yoru to Yuki no Tawamure" (白銀の夜と雪の戯れ2005), held at Ca et La ski resort in Gunma. Gackt and the members were team leaders for 16 teams that participated in tug-of-war, five-person six-legged race and basket-ball games.
April 2005
April 3-9 - Dears Fanclub trip to Sydney, Australia.
April - Filming of BLACKSTONE PV in Sydney, Australia.
April 27 - Release of 21st single, BLACK STONE c/w Ash. The song was used in the CM for Daihatsu MOVE Custom (car) starting on April 6.

May 17 - Appearance at the press conference for the premiere of "Kidou Senshi Z Gundam~Hoshi wo Tsugu Mono" (機動戦士Zガンダム~星を継ぐ物).
May 25 - Release of 22nd single, Metamorphoze~メタモルフォーゼ~ c/w Kimi ga Matteiru Kara (君が待っているから)(remix). The song is used as the theme song for "Kidou Senshi Z Gundam" (機動戦士Zガンダム)(anime).
June 2005
June - Filming of FLEG INTERNATION CM in Tokyo, Japan.
June 10 - Appearance in Takano Yuri Beauty Clinic CM with Ryoko Yonekura. The CM features the song Saikai~Story~ (再会~Story~)
June 16 - Release of Love Letter-for Korean Dears, a Korean language version of the Love Letter album. The CD also contains an MV for Love Letter.
June 17-18 - In conjunction with the release of the Korean language version of the Love Letter album, Gackt held a fan meeting and press conference in Korea. The fan meeting was attended by 800 Korean fans, and Gackt (along with You and Chacha) performed Korean versions of Sakurasou (들꽃) and Love Letter.
June 28 - Performance of Peace (ピース), Kimi ni Aitakute (君に逢いたくて), and Love Letter at the 第一興商株主総会 live.

February 28 - Appearance at the Maiko High School graduation ceremony in Kobe. Gackt performed a song written for the occasion called "No ni Saku Hana no Youni" (野に咲く花のように).
March 2006
March 4 - Release of 25th single, Love Letter c/w Dybbuk. Love Letter is used as the theme song for "Kidou Senshi Z Gundam III~Hoshi no Kodo wa Ai (機動戦士Zガンダム III~星の鼓動は愛)", which premiered in theatres on March 4, 2006.
March 10 - Love Letter comes in at #9 in the Oricon weekly charts, making it Gackt's 25th top 10 hit.
March 28 - Release of Tour Document Book DIABOLOS.
March 29 - Release of Gackt Live Tour 2005 DIABOLOS~Aien no Uta to Seiya no Namida (哀婉の詩と聖夜の涙)~ DVD.
March 31 - Official announcement regarding Gackt's role in the NHK Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan” (風林火山), set to air in 2007. The drama is based on a historical novel that tells the story of Yamamoto Kansuke, a warrior in Takeda Shingen's army. Gackt will play Uesugi Kenshin, one of Yamamoto's rivals.

April 19 - Gackt is ranked #2 overall in Oricon's "Oshare na Artist Top 10". This was a ranking of the most fashionable artists, as voted on by the fans. He was also ranked #1 in the category of men who look good in a suit.

June 1 - Official announcement that Gackt will be the image character for Kawaguchi Autorace.

August 15 - Final Fantasy VII~Dirge of Cerberus is released in the U.S.
August 16 - Gackt is ranked #2 in Oricon's "Style no ii Artist Ranking". This was a poll of 1,000 readers, who voted on the most stylish artists.
August 23 - Release of Gackt Greatest Filmography 1999-2006 Red and Blue DVDs (PV collections).
August 31 - Gackt THE GREATEST FILMOGRAPHY 1999-2006 Blue and Red DVDs ranked #1 and 2 respectively.
October 2006
October 25 - Limited edition re-release of MARS in SACD format. The re-release is packaged in a 31cmx31cm LP-size jacket and comes with a 30cmx30cm booklet and B2 size poster.

December 4 – Gackt Training Days 2006 Drug Party, Dears-only live house tour begins at Zepp Osaka. Ryu is replaced by new drummer Jun-ji during this tour.
December 13 – Release of 12月のLove song~Complete Box~. The box contains a CD with Japanese, Chinese, English and Korean versions of 12月のLove song. The English version has new lyrics. The box also includes an aroma oil lamp and metallic postcards.
December 13 – Release of Platinum Box VII.
December 20 – Release of Chinese artist Ji Minjia’s (known as ジャジャin Japan) album which was produced by Gackt. The album includes the song Lover~愛しい人~written by Gackt, and a cover of Last Song
December 21 - Gackt Training Days 2006 Drug Party, Dears-only live house tour ends at Zepp Sapporo.
December 24 – Gackt appears at the Kawaguchi Autorace to present the award to the race winner.
January 2007
January 21 – Appearance at the final event of the MTV Girls Meet Beauty audition. The dieting and beauty contest was sponsored by Takano Yuri, and Gackt presented the winner with a cape and tiara.

February 2007
February 7 – Release of 26th single, No ni Saku Hana no You ni (野に咲く花のように). The song was written for graduates of Maiko High School in Hyogo Prefecture. The PV was made up of clips and photos sent in by fans. The song was also used for the NHK television show みんなのうた (Minna no Uta).
February 7-8 - Gackt Training Days 2007 Drug Party live in Taipei, Taiwan.
February 19 – Deadline for "No ni saku hana no you ni" essay contest. This contest was a collaboration between Gackt, Pia magazine and TOKYO FM which took place during the graduation season in Japan. Participants had to write an essay of 800 to 1200 words, and the topic had to be related to graduation, such as "Journey" or "Dreams".
March 2007
March 1 - Appearance at Nagasaki High School graduation ceremony to perform No ni Saku Hana no You ni.
March 8-14 – Dears fanclub trip to Los Angeles, California.
March 15 – Winning essays, chosen by Gackt, for the "No ni saku hana no you ni" contest were published in Pia magazine. Gackt also read the essays on TOKYO FM. The essays were then compiled into a collection and all the participants received this book as a present. The book also comes with Gackt's personal autograph with the participants' names on it.
March 31- April 1 – Dears Ski trip held at Ca et La ski resort in Gunma.

April 30 – Appearance at Kawaguchi Autorace. Gackt rode in on a motorcycle, and then presented an award to the winner of the race.

June 10 – Appearance at the screening of the movie “The Prestige”, which features the song RETURNER~yami no shuuen~ (RETURNER~闇の終焉~) at the Hibiya Scala movie theater in Tokyo. He appeared on stage with magician Mr. マリック(Mr. Malic), and participated in some magic tricks.
June 17 – Gackt debuts in the NHK taiga drama, Fuurin Kazan (風林火山). He plays the character Uesugi Kenshin
June 20 – Release of 27th single, RETURNER~yami no shuuen~ (RETURNER~闇の終焉~). The song was written with the drama Fuurin Kazan in mind. RETURNER hit number 1 on the Oricon Weekly Single Chart; this is Gackt’s first number one hit.
June 29 – Performance as a part of S.K.I.N., at Anime Expo, Long Beach, California. S.K.I.N. is a band Gackt formed with Yoshiki (formerly of X Japan), Sugizo (formerly of Luna Sea) and Miyavi. This was Gackt’s first public performance in the U.S.

December 10 - Sale of charity goods for the "Save Our Dears" campaign begins. The campaign was started in an effort to raise funds for victims of the July 16 earthquake in Niigata prefecture. Profits from the sales of the charity goods produced by Gackt will go to the victims of the earthquake. Items for sale included keyholders and bracelets (2 designs).
December 10-12 - Videos of Gackt taken during the Kenshin Festival in August, as well as a Kenshin-Gackt photo panel were shown at Omotesando Niigata-kan Nespace, as a part of the Kenshin Walkabout and Joetsu City Campaign.
December 16 - Appearance as a secret guest for the screening of Kidou Senshi Gundam memorial box DVD, held in Kinokuniya Sazan Theater in Shinjuku. Gackt went on stage and presented Director Tomino with a bouquet of flowers. Other guests include Hikawa Ryuusuke, Shinjo Mayu and comedian duo America Zarigani. After the event, Gackt held a press conference together with Director Tomino.
December 19 - Release of 9th album, 0079-0088. The album contains 3 covers of Gundam theme songs, as well as six of Gackt's own songs. The album also came in two special editions, with lines spoken by the voice actors for the Gundam characters Amuro Ray and Char Aznable. The special editions had different cover art.
December 24 - Release of the Dears-only version of Platinum Box VIII.
December 31 - Performance of RETURNER~闇の終焉~消え逝く武士(サムライ)たちへの鎮魂歌(レクイエム)) (~yami no shuuen~kieyuku samurai e no requiem) at the 58th annual Kouhaku Utagassen. Gackt performed on a set outdoors, dressed in his Uesugi Kenshin costume, and accompanied by 250 extras dressed as his soldiers.

March 18 - Appearance at Takada High School's graduation ceremony to perform 野に咲く花のように (No ni saku hana no you ni). Takada High School is in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture, the area which is well known for its ties to Uesugi Kenshin (whom Gackt played in the Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan). This was Gackt's second appearance at a high school graduation ceremony in 2008.
March 21 - Release of the DVD complete box set, Volume 2, of the Taiga drama Fuurin Kazan” (風林火山)comprising of episodes 28 through 50.
March 22 - Appearance in the CM for Exsanus LIMUNUS Wrapping Treatment Skincare Gel. Gackt's song Secret Garden played in the CM.
March 26 - Release of Furuya Tooru's (voice actor who played Amuro Ray in the Gundam series) mini-album called "HEROES~to my treasures~". Gackt wrote the music for the song ララの夜想曲-Nocturne- (lyrics were written by Gundam director Tomino Yoshiyuki) which is included in the album.

April 14 - Debut of Ener's Big Adventure. Ener is Gackt's pet dog, who will be appearing in the LOVE OUR PLANET campaign for environmental awareness.

July 4 - Reservations begin for the Gackt Memorial Box 2000-2008, a collection of all 28 issues of the Dears newsletter. The Memorial Box was limited to fanclub members only, included a postcard set, and only 3,000 were produced. Reservations also begin for the Dears-only version of the virtual vocalist software GACKPOID.
