“Kamui Gakupo” debuts at the end of July! – “GACKPOID”

Details of the virtual vocalist software “GACKPOID”, which uses the vocal synthesis technology “VOCALOID 2”, have been announced.

The vocal synthesis method and input interface (were developed) using the same “VOCALOID 2” technology that was used in “Hatsune Miku” and “Kagamine Lin” (both released by Krypton Future Media); Yamaha spent many years on research and development of this cutting-edge vocal synthesis technology.

The name of the character that appears on the package is “神威 がくぽ” (Kamui Gakupo). It is an original illustration by manga artist Miura Kentaro, and the software will include a poster of the same character illustration.

Two of Gackt’s original songs and three other songs will be included as sample song data, and there will be a free offer (for users to download) “OPUS Express for Windows”, a software that can mix the vocals, music and phonemes. (“GACKPOID” can create vocal tracks, but it cannot make song compositions or arrangements. Therefore, in order to arrange a musical accompaniment for the singing created by “GACKPOID”, you will need to use a sequencer or software like “OPUS Express”, which can mix the music and vocal tracks). 

Using “OPUS Express”, you can mix the instrumentals from one of Gackt’s recorded singles with a vocal part created using “GACKPOID” (putting in your own name when he sings “you”), or you can use the instrumentals from a completely different artist, and say “I want Kamui Gakupo to sing XX”.
